Interlibrary Loans (ILL/EIB)

The Interlibrary Loan (ILL/EIB) service enables patrons of one library to borrow items, for onsite consultation, that are held by another library. This may happen when a user intends to consult an item that is unavailable in the collections of their library.

If you are a registered user at our Library and are looking for a book or article that does not exist in our collections, you can obtain it through the Interlibrary Loan (ILL/EIB) service.

If you are a foreign or national library (from outside the ULisboa Campus) that is looking to borrow documents, solicit copies, prints or digitalisations of items from our collections, you can submit your request using the ILL/EIB service.

Within this scope, the FLUL Library

  1. Requests items from other libraries (from outside the ULisboa Campus), Portuguese or foreign
  2. Transfers items from its collections (as well as reproductions) to other libraries, Portuguese or foreign

ILL/EIB requests can be submitted online, using one of the appropriate forms, or in person, at the Library internal services (Ground Floor), on working days, from 11h00 to 13h00, and from 14h00 to 17h00.

General conditions:

  • ILL/EIB is a paid service
  • Loan terms can vary, depending on the agreed conditions with the libraries involved
  • Item consultation is done in the Reading Room, during the Reading Room opening hours (home loan is not available for ILL/EIB service)

Payments and table of costs:

For requests made by users registered in the Library:

  • The cost is determined by the supplying library and paid exclusively by the user that makes the request
  • The user must choose one of the available methods to carry out the payment: bank transfer to the NIB: 0035 0824 00005247630 04 (CGD account), or in the Treasury of the Financial and Patrimonial Management Division, through an expense documentissued by the ILL/EIB Service.
  • Every time a payment is made through bank transfer, proof of payment must be sent to bib.eib@letras.ulisboa.pt
