Resumo (abstract):
This presentation will display the ongoing research on experimental poetry in Italy produced by non-male subjects that began in the 60s and continued to the 80s. By adopting feminist practice as its main interpretative tool, it will be presented a case study of selected poems by Giulia Niccolai from POEMA & OGGETTO (1974, re-ed il Verri 2014), a fundamental book in the Italian concrete poetry horizon and for feminist liberation. In this groundbreaking book, the theme and forms of weaving are playful and yet conceptually dense, tying together poetic experimentalism and female experience. In adherence to her playful poetics, Niccolai materialises gender-oppression in concrete poetry and contests it through bilingual wordplays, actual pins, and numerous puns.
